Llechwen Hall Training Day

As I have previously mentioned, I am a firm believer in the importance of learning and progression and for a while, I have wanted to get to grips with something that I know will take my photography to the next level: off camera flash (or OCF as it is abbreviated in the industry).  I had seen some photographs by a fellow photographer and so I got in contact with him as he offered training days.  he explained to me how I could use my equipment effectively as well as how I could make small changes in my kit to make a big impact.

The biggest effect this has had has been by making my indoor images more dramatic.  Many of the weddings I do have beautiful grounds, but unfortunately when it rains, indoors aren't quite as pretty.  By applying these lighting techniques I can transform a venue to really make the most of the ambient light and eliminating distractions.  It has also taught me how I can use it outdoors though to balance the sun and give images that extra 'pop'.

For the training day, we were lucky to have two lovely volunteers that modelled for us for the day as well as the beautiful Llechwen Hall allowing us to use their venue. Thank you so much Darren Thomas for the training, it  was invaluable.
