{Wedding} Katy & Jamie | Usk Castle

Katy and Jamie are just one of those couples that are so easy to be around; they are open, refreshingly honest, great fun and complement each other perfectly.  We first met last year and then again a few months back at their engagement session, which you can see here.

By the time I arrived at Katy's parents' house for the bridal preparations, I felt like we had become friends and I was soon welcomed into the family.  Straight away it was clear how much thought and effort had been placed into every tiny little detail, from the special gifts the couple had selected, to the use of the bible that had been gifted to her mother on her wedding day, not to mention the stunning handmade veil by Katy's ever so talented mum.  Everything about their wedding was carefully considered, locally sourced and most importantly personal.

As Katy had her make up done, her bridesmaids laughed and danced and her father tried to steady his nerves.  Needless to say, once she was ready, Katy made the most breathtaking bride with her incredible dress perfectly complementing her tiny frame. She made her grand entrance and I honestly don't think I've seen a prouder father.

At the church, the big band were assembled, ready for Katy's grand entrance.  Music was such a big part of their relationship (it was how they met) and so it was fitting that it would play out on their wedding day, especially so as the band were conducted by Jamie's father.  Following the ceremony, we headed in to Usk for some photographs on the bridge, where Jamie had proposed and then joined the rest of their family and friends at Usk Castle for their spectacular reception.

The sun was blazing and it easily reached 30 degrees that day, meaning everyone was able to mingle with their drinks and make the most of the outside lawns.  Children played and guests were serenaded by a talented, young vocalist/guitarist.  All around, people were laughing and having fun, it really was perfect.

After emotional and funny speeches and slideshows, ice lollies, the first dance which was followed by a beautiful father-daughter dance, we were all in for another surprise.  The band which Katy and Jamie play in had an outdoor performance lined up for their guests.  There was more singing and dancing outside as the sun set, it really was wonderful to witness.

I am privileged to enjoy every wedding I am lucky enough to be part of, but this one felt even more joyous as it truly was the coming together of two families, with love and sentimentality at the heart of every aspect.  Katy and Jamie, thank you for having me and looking after me so well.  I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together as you totally deserve it xx
