Get To Know Me
(because you don't want to spend your wedding day with a stranger)
Hi! I'm Laura - a Disney loving, wedding obsessed maths geek. Whilst you can probably guess that my interests include photography, in another life I'm also busy being a part time teacher and a mum. Together with my husband Rick, who is also my second shooter, we live in Cwmbran, South Wales.
Being asked to be part of someone's wedding is such a huge privilege for me, as it goes so far beyond just turning up on the day itself. I like to build a relationship with my clients, so that by the time the wedding comes we are at ease in each other's company. Throughout the wedding planning process I will be on hand giving you any advice you may need as well as recommending suppliers and providing you with hints and tips to get the most out of your big day. Every wedding is a career highlight for me as I just enjoy it so much. I have been lucky to have featured in many different publications and most recently have been shortlisted for Best Wedding Photographer in The Welsh National Wedding Awards as well as the Best of Welsh Wedding Awards, as voted for by my incredibly wonderful clients.
I'm naturally organised and like to be in control, so it will come as no surprise that I insist on doing pretty much everything myself. From designing my own website, editing all of my images in house, and working with clients to design stunning albums, I do it all. The only area of my business that I'm happy to hand over to someone else is the role of second photographer and that is only because I use someone whom I trust implicitly to do as he's told - my husband!
My Journey Into Photography
I've loved taking pictures ever since I was young (I was the kid chasing everyone for photos on our Llangrannog trips) and have albums upon albums documenting my childhood through to adolesence and now my attempt at being a proper grown up. Growing up, the family garden gave me plenty of inspiration for getting up close with nature's beauty and paying attention to detail. I still have a love for details, especially at weddings where I'm in my element capturing the little things that make each wedding unique.
I've also been completely obsessed by weddings for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is playing with an old net curtain and posy of artificial roses, pretending they were my veil and bouquet. As a teenager, when my friends were looking at 'Shout' or 'Bliss' magazine in the newsagents, I was sneaking peeks through the bridal ones.
The arrival of my little girl gave me a further excuse to take pictures every single day. It was during my maternity leave that I finally decided to pursue my hobby further by setting up Laura Grace Photography as a business. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made and I'm immensly proud of what I've achieved. A few years later (and with the addition of my son) I am loving every second and can't wait for the next opportunity to pick up my camera.
I am so excited to have recently been accepted to join the epic Cwtch Lush List and look forward to exhibiting at a few wedding fayres in 2020 (message me for details).
Good to know: I have an up to date enhanced DBS check, a full clean driving license and the use of my own car. I am also a fluent welsh speaker and trained in first aid. Most importantly though, I GET IT. Having planned a wedding myself, I know how important your day is to you, how it's all you think about. The little things are the big things and I completely understand that, which is why you can trust that I mean it when I say I will put my heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears* into creating the best images I possibly can.
*yes I put my hands up - I will probably get all emotional when you walk down the aisle/say your vows/during speeches etc. Good job I can hide behind my camera haha!
